Claims

By merging the BAMC into SSH, claims held by the BAMC have also been transferred to SSH. There are various management strategies applied to realize such claims, either a restructuring strategy or a recovery strategy.

As regards the claim management for claims with restructuring strategies, SSH plays the role of an active creditor, which means that it regularly monitors the performance of contractual commitments in a relationship to a debtor, as well as the satisfaction of such commitments. In a case where an individual debt is owed to several financial creditors, SSH assumes the task of coordinating activities with these creditors. In a case when a debtor is a company in which SSH also has an ownership stake, in addition to the activities which have already been mentioned, SSH also carries out the tasks of monitoring the consistent implementation of the approved business plans and their adaptation to changing market and economic conditions, all with the aim of increasing the value of the assets. The ultimate objective of SSH in these cases is to sell such a claim and an equity stake as a package, at the highest possible value.

Cases of claims for which a recovery strategy is applied to collect collateral include debtors for which the calculations have shown that realising the assets held by the debtor, pledgers and/or guarantors ensures a higher repayment of the claim than any other form of recovery. These cases mostly include companies which are bankrupt, or undertakings  which have liquidity issues and no possibility of refinancing their liabilities owed to SSH.
